Support Team

Practice Manager and Legal Support Assistant

Kate Curtis - Practice Manager

What do you do?

As Practice Manager, I look after much of the administration that keeps the business running smoothly.    My role is largely about making sure the day-to-day operations are organised and efficient so that our lawyers can focus on their work with clients. That includes coordinating systems, helping with onboarding and compliance processes and generally keeping everything ticking over behind the scenes.

I enjoy bringing structure and organisation to busy environments and helping move things forward, whether that’s improving processes, supporting the team with practical tasks, or making sure important details don’t get missed. It’s rewarding to play a part in helping the team deliver great work for clients.

Have you always worked in law?

No. My background is in customer service, administration, and team management, and I’ve worked across a range of industries including finance, mobility services and technology. I also ran my own small home maintenance business, which gave me hands-on experience managing finances, scheduling work, and working directly with clients.

More recently, I’ve taken a career break to raise my son and manage our household. Now that my son is at school, I’m really enjoying working in a flexible role where I can use my organisational skills and experience supporting the team.

Hilary Homer - Legal Support Assistant

What do you do?

I am a part-time Legal Support Assistant, providing document production services to the team. Of course, our lawyers don’t delegate the legal advice itself, but where they think it appropriate, I edit and proofread documentation that they’ve drafted. In this way, we can provide a cost-effective way to help clients manage some of the more time-intensive compliance tasks, such as information-gathering for audits and data-mapping, and preparing documents. My experience as an editor of technical materials, combined with my post-GDPR Practitioner Certificate in Data Protection ( PC.dp ) qualification, is a major plus for this role.

Have you always worked in law?

Nope! My background is in educational publishing, where I worked on the production side as well as freelancing as an editor and proofreader for various companies. I decided to specialise into this area with my day job, which led me to take a full-time role as Lead Editor for a company producing learning materials for major tech companies.

In 2016, I joined Pritchetts Law as Practice Manager, where the position expanded to encompass a Legal Support Assistant role. After eight years as Practice Manager, I handed over to Greta, and I now retain my part-time Legal Support Assistant role while pursuing wider opportunities.
